Saturday 29th August saw Backup Technology proudly sponsor the Match ball for the Premier League match between Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool. Having been the Programme, Match, Match Ball and Player sponsor for a number of our Premier League Football Club customers over the last few years, this is an event we thoroughly look forward to been a part of each football season!
The ability to sponsor our customers not only gives Backup Technology, and our clients great entertainment but it also gives support back to those customers who have utilised our market leading Online Backup, Disaster Recovery and Disaster Recovery Solutions. These customers include the likes of Liverpool FC, Everton FC, Bolton FC, Sunderland FC and Reading FC.
Backup Technology have been protecting data for all of these clubs for a number of years now and in this time have built up excellent relationships with employees at all clubs. Not only do we backup all of the critical data at their stadiums such as their ticketing data and emails, we also backup data at remote locations, such as their training grounds, as part of our commitment to providing all round data backup and recovery for our clients.
Bolton’s hospitality on days such as these is exceptional and this day was no different – not just because Liverpool ended up winners (spot the Liverpool fan!) We got to the ground around Midday and were quickly taken on a thorough tour of the stadium grounds. Our host for the day was ex-player and Bolton legend Peter Nicholson, who made over 300 appearances for the team. It wasn’t long after lunch he had also arranged for us to go on the pitch just as the players were about to kick off to present the match ball to the referee and had a photograph with the team captains. It is a testament to both Peter and Bolton that they can arrange for this to happen and it is slightly nerve wracking having 30,000 fans watching you!.
After arriving back at our box, we enjoyed a decent game of football whilst also taking further advantage of Bolton’s excellent hospitality. Liverpool won the game 3-2 after a somewhat fortunate 90 minutes that saw a Bolton player sent off and the winning goal arriving in the last five minutes.
