With the announcement from Symantec, as we reported yesterday, to pull the Backup Exec.cloud service just before its 3rd birthday in January 2015. The end-of-life announcement has been made with a promise of a new ‘feature rich’ product to replace, but with no further details about the product, customers have been left in limbo.
However, here at Backup Technology, we have decided to extend a backup life line to those customers who need a stable enterprise backup solution. BTL are offering all Backup Exec.cloud customers a free migration to their Asigra based backup solution.
The solution will include being able to use their backup solution along side the Symantec solution free of change until the drop dead date of the contract. This allows them not only to ensure the Asigra product is the right fit for them, but also allows them to build up their data history.
The agentless architecture of Asigra enables the customers to quickly and unobtrusively configure and run their backups to BTL’s Data centers in an incremental forever fashion.
The BTL offering provides an Enterprise and WAN optimised solution, allowing large amounts of data to be protected over small bandwidth connections. BTL’s proprietary Portal enables centralised web based monitoring and consolidated daily emails giving the user confidence and full transparency of backups on a real time basis.
