Keep your data in a safe place

You can never predict when something will go wrong with your computer and the data that you have stored is lost. If you do not have any backup of your data that you work on, it could be a really difficult situation for you when you lose the data. It is always recommended that you backup your important files; and store it separately, somewhere it can be recouped in the event of data loss.

Backing up your data at a remote place, away from your office has many advantages. If you store the backup files on the same computer hard drive as the original files, if something happens to the hard drive, your backup files will also be lost.

What files should be backed up and where

First you should look at the data that is stored on your computer and determine about the files that cannot be recreated if. You should backup important files for online data backup like those that have financial information, client information, MIS, reports etc.

You should consider having an online data backup service that backs up your important data using secure file transfer protocol. Your files, even the entire contents of your hard drive can be easily transferred and stored at an online data storage server and can be easily retrieved later whenever you want.
