There have been almost 277 unique cases of data loss since November 2007. Many of the cases registered have been investigated, but the officials are not sure of how many firms have not yet registered or informed about such incidents.
Necessary steps have already been taken by firms that have suffered such incidents. Recently there were reports that employees have lost company’s crucial information in public transport. Data can be carried in portable Media like CDs, DVDs, memory sticks etc. We cannot completely rely on these storage devices. There is a chance of losing data if these devices malfunction.
It is very important to have a good backup service to avoid such incidents. Offsite data storage is one of the most convenient as well as efficient way of storing data. In offsite data storage, data can be backed up regularly on a server that is located offsite. Data that is stored on the offsite servers is very safe. When the data is transferred from your computer to the server it is in encrypted form, ensuring complete security.
