Backup Technology is launching a new apprenticeship scheme this autumn at the Selby District Jobs Fair on Wednesday. Open to applicants in Yorkshire, Backup Technology is working to promote the scheme to attract the best talent in the region.
The scheme will be open to young people with little or no work experience or qualifications. The apprentices will have a specific technical focus. Throughout their apprenticeship, they will receive mentoring and coaching from Backup Technology staff and will also be encouraged to train for an external qualification at the same time.
Nigel Adams, MP of Selby and Ainsty, organiser of the Selby District Jobs Fair said:
‘In these uncertain economic times, apprenticeships in Yorkshire offer a future to young people, many of whom are not in employment, education and training. Apprenticeships not only offer nationally recognised qualifications, but also extremely valuable work experience.’
Backup Technology has been expanding significantly and is a strong supporter of the Yorkshire economy. The initiative highlights Backup Technology’s long-term commitment to supporting employment and training across the region. Offering jobs-with-training, the scheme is based on the traditional model of apprenticeship.
‘Backup Technology is continually looking to develop and invest in its future leaders and the Apprenticeship Scheme is a great opportunity to engage with a new pool of talent. We frequently recruit local graduates and promising young talent, but we also understand that a university degree isn’t for everyone. The scheme is a fantastic opportunity for those keen to get straight into work with a vibrant and forward thinking company, whilst also working for a recognised qualification’ said one of the company founders, Simon Chappell.
