Poor data backup systems at the Ministry of Justice

In an incident highlighting poor levels of data security, disks containing the details of 27,000 suppliers, including names, addresses and bank details, were stolen from the Ministry of Justice earlier this year. In other data loss incidents, laptops were stolen which resulted in the loss of data about almost 14,000 fine defaulters.

Such incidents are often heartbreaking to those who have taken the time and labour to compile the data. Even you, at some point of time, must have suffered data loss where you lost valuable data that took months or even years to gather. In such a case, it is best to have data backup, but even conventional storage devices like pen drives or hard disks are susceptible to data loss through damage, theft or other reasons. In such a case, online data backup is the best storage solution that you can get and that is why many companies are opting for online backup as a storage option.

With online backup, you can now save all your data in online vaults, where they are encrypted and stored behind passwords and other security measures, which is considerably safer than the usual storage devices like DVDs, CDs and hard disks. All you need is access to a computer with a fast enough internet connection to upload your files. This backup can be updated several times a day with your files and in the event of data loss, when you restore your data, you would not get a file that was saved weeks ago, but the one you were currently working on. This can save a lot of time and expense in the event of data loss and you can get back to work in no time at all.
