A number of law firms have admitted to losing classified data

A recent survey has confirmed that many law firms in the UK have lost confidential data like contracts, documents and case notes which could very well put clients at risk. Thirteen percent of those who lost the device on which the data was stored were sure that it was safe since the information was encrypted. Now however, many believe that creating a backup for their data online is the best way to secure important information.

Robert Schifreen, an IT security consultant, confirms that while storing sensitive data on an offsite location and ensuring its security, it is important to encrypt it so that loss of the data will not have damaging consequences. A study found that one out of five lawyers stored corporate and client information on their personal USB drives, notebooks and mobile phones and the biggest security gaps stemmed from here.

Creating a backup for important information and encrypting it is extremely important since loss of it could result in a lot of problems for the individual or the company. This way, even if the device on which the data is stored gets damaged, you will not face dire consequences as there will be a backup. Online data backup and online data storage is an ideal solution for such problems.
